Azo Free

Azo dyes are synthetic colours that contain an azo group, -N=N-, as
part of the structure. They account for approximately 60-70% of all
dyes used in food and textile production.  Yellow/red dyes are the
most common ones. Some azo dyes have been found to be potential
carcinogens.

The German banned dye list, as commonly called, provides
a list of products banned in Europe. If a product has not been made
using these compounds, it is sometimes called azo free.
